Since Hilda retired from politics in May this year we seem to have been busier than ever with diffrent groups wanting too say goodbuy( or perhaps make sure that she has really gone. she was chair of two committees, licencing and scrutiny ). I won't bore you with all the details but Hilda was offered the honour of becoming an honorary alderman of the city of Exeter. This started another round of invites. So now things have slowed down a bit i feel that we are getting our life back together i will get back to challenging you guys and gals to see what you have all been up to. I'm posting some pictures of Hilda's robing as an alderman. Not my best work but a professional photographer is employed by the guildhall so i had to sneak these (not easy with a D2x )

Yep, Christoph is correct, its very quiet in here.
Most of us have been using 500px.com a little bit. Its a bit intimidating in there tho, very few comments or positive votes come out of it and the quality is generally amazing !

I do still check in from time to time tho on light art ... again our admin dude has gone AWOL unfortunately.

As you might have noticed I have also put pictures onto 500px resulting in a few comments and some reasonable ratings.  Not sure what you need to do for more visibility.  After all there were more than 900 new pictures yesterday.

Correction: Actually there were >900 pages by 20 pictures = >18000 pictures.

Yes, I have found 500px OK but not that rewarding in the area of constructive comments - maybe it changes if you pay for the Premium membership, but I can't see too many benefits to it.  My main photo discussion place remains RedBubble (http://www.redbubble.com/people/analog6), I get quite a bit of feedback - it is a good community once you build up your watchlist and contacts, and I do sell occasionally (2 cards this week) and it allows me to make great calendars.  And it remains free - a big plus for me.

Bob, I liked your shots of Hilda's ceremony, very nice work.

Hello guys,

Shamefully, I have been M.I.A but with a good reason but no excuse.
My Car Net site rebuild beacame a vortex that has sucked up a lot of time and a fair bit of resource all 'round.
I must push on to complete what I have started, but it became a rather large project for one person with outsourced help.
What little free time I have I spend with my wife and kids.
I am sorry that I have let you all down, by spreading my time too thin, but I do need to feed the wife and sprogs, pay the mortgage etc and the forum can't do that for me without the 500px style model - which they seem to be doing very well.
I hope you are all happy and well and keeping the camera free of cobwebs, rust and apathy.

I have not checked in for a LONG time (by my standards, usually everyday).
Its a shame when life just gets so busy and hectic we cant do the things we really enjoy. I dont even check the 500px site much anymore. Although I am working tonight and next weekend with a company who runs Strech Hummer Limo city + nightclub tours. I will see how it goes before I commit to more nights. It pays (not that well) but any extra cash will help these days. Also it will mean a late night or 2 a week on a Friday and Saturday which also means getting away for a weekend is not possible. Still ... means I get to use my camera and potentially make some $$$ ... never know I might even be able to post a pic or 2 !

Its a never ending grind sometimes... my current commute is approx 2 hours each way, so that tends to put  a bit of a hole in available time, hopefully will change that in the near future ...

Cheers
