All's gone quiet again so how about a simple challenge for this year, how about take two photos per week into the existing categories starting at the top of the list and working down so February would be black & white March would be people and so on,may be miss out macro as not everyone will have a macro lens anyone up for it. This would save anyone having to think up a new subject for a challenge each month and should hopfully generate some intrest.
I can just here those OZ brains working overtime thinking cheeky pom he's posted nothing for two months himself and you would be rite so this is as much a dig at me to get off my chair and get out into the cold and take some pictures as it is encouragement for others. So what do you think

Actually I think this is quite a good idea Bob. Looking around the site there are a lot of photos which are being viewed but not commented on again, so I think that we all need to get involved again ! I have found that I have posted quite a number of photos and some have a large number of views without comment, and I am not the only one.

Great idea, Bob.  What list have you been quoting from?

O.K guys a simple list for 2011 we start at the top of the categories as listed on our home page that starts with black and white so this is the first challenge in February we then just work our way down the the list.
Rules are going to be simple There are no prizes just the pleasure of winning
1 It would be expected that those who enter will comment on other entrants pictures
2 you don't have to entire every month
3 members may join in at any time, so new members can enter on there first day of membership
4 all photos must have been taken for this challenge. Not more than 30days before start of challenge
5 Now for the big one all photos MUST BE RESIZED TO 900 PIXCELLS ON THERE LONGEST SIDE. The reason is this at at that size the EXIF travels with the picture
Good luck, Good shooting

Great!  I'm in.  Now all we need is for somebody to create a monthly board to collect the pictures.  Any volunteers?

No, we just go to the relevant section and start posting, as I see it.  So - B&W 'eh?  I'll see what I can come up with.

Further to Bob's excellent suggestiond we do each month in turn for 2011 going by the subjects in the 'Discussion by Gallery Genre" I have made a list

So it will come out as
January - B&W
February - People
March - Places
April - Big Skies
May - Macro/Still Life
June - Documentary/photojournalism
July - Glamour/fashion (I've skipped Stock photography - not really a very active topic here)
August - Nature
September - Architecture/buildings
October - Sport
November - Transport
December - Pets and other animals

I combined Still Life with macro so we had a nice 12 topics.

I suggest we head our pics up 2011 Challenge - genre name (eg B&W) - title of image.

What do you think Bob, and everyone else too, of course?

Looks good Odille.
Unfortunately Jan is already over Sad ... I have some pics I took during Jan which will probably look OK in B+W but has everyone else been out and about with the camera ?

There hasn't been too much activity Tim, just stick them in there I think.  It's more about stimulating discussion and if they were taken in January I think that's fair enough.

Sorry for my late reply but yes i do agree with Odille on this, so that is the list that we will go by this year.
I would like to ask all to take at two shots per month in the month that they are intended for, afterall this is intended to stimulate us into going out and taking pictures and not just going through our files. However the main idea is to stimulate intrest and activity on the forum so all pictures are acceptable

Yes, I'll be going out too but it has been so hot here I've just been staying close to home.  However, the stationary high pressure that has been squatting on us for a week or so is finally moving off the coast and it looks like being a little cooler for the next few days.  Nighttime temps in my room have been 26-31C and high humidity with it.  The ceiling fan and evaporative cooler help a bit but it's not my favourite time of the year.

It has been horrible here too in Brissy, HOT HOT days with high humidity ! Just as the car gets cool going from place to place I have to get out into the heat and leave it parked in the sun so it gets hot again Sad, I just cant win ! At least Dr's surgeries are air-conditioned Smiley

And since the cyclone moved inland the damned high has moved back over us.  27C at 3am this morning in my bedroom, with the fan on.  You can see it here: http://realtime2.bsch.au.com/wv_sat.html - the dark areas are highs and the white moisture.
