This is a partial or penumbral eclipse, so the moon will be greyish, not reddish.  Still worth photographing.

Here's the link to Fred Espenak's Eclipse site (NASA).  Links to lunar and solar eclipses.  Scroll down to the table and click on the date link and you'll get the graphic.  I posted that one here mainly for the folk from Oz. Your next one look to be 2009 July 7.

I've attached the full graphic here as well.

Thanks for that Odille. I was pretty happy with last year's lunar eclipse and hopefully this one will be good, too.

A big "WOW" to Helen. A very creative treatment of the eclipse images....
and to Odille,
Would you care to also post your eclipse site link into the "useful links" area? Over time, it rermains a useful resource long after these posts are buried by those that follow.

Didn't think of that - consider it done.

Helen's is just an example of the great effects that can be made with omposite pics of eclipses.

Exposures for the various shots, Helen?

Apologies for the delayed response. Embarrassed

I used the old Siggy 400mm f5.6 with 2x TC, so all the shots were at f11. ISO400 was used up until the start of the full eclipse and then I went to ISO800 and up to ISO1600 in the middle of totality and back again. Varying shutter speeds from 1/25 to 2 seconds were used. All taken with the old Canon 300D. Smiley
