I know some of you live around the Queensland area also some close to Brisbane and according to reports here in the UK you have it really bad with flooding, and now crocks, snakes, and all sorts other of poison creatures trying to escape the floods are attacking any one they come in contact with. Hope you guys are allright

Thanks for your thoughts Bob - at this stage the South East corner of Queensland and Northern NSW (ie Tim, Odille & Us) is largely ok - some localised flooding, some inconvenience due to road closures - nothing like the north & west! The media reports of crocs and snakes may be "slightly" exagerated but there are many thousands of homes that have been inundated. The ultimate damage bill will not be known for weeks yet but will be significant! We have 'lations who have been cut off (we were intending to head north for New Years but couldn't get through) but thankfully they are still high if not dry!

We have had some pretty serious water go through under our house as we are set on the high side of a hill and on a sloping block, we have had some stuff stored under the house damaged but only books (some rare, some not rare, some gifts) and some of Isla's baby clothes. Otherwise nothing too bad in the way of flooding, most of Brissy would have to be under water if we were to have water lapping at our front gate !

On the upside, as Odille and I found out today, the waterfalls / creeks etc in the Gold Coast hinterland are running high and made for some awesome photography opportunity. Pics to follow in the next day or 2.

For the last 3 months of 2010 we had over 1000mm of rain here at Terranora, some areas near us had more.  Our house, fortunately, is elevated, so no personal danger, except the roof os leaking over the very corner of Warwick's bedroom.  Got the real estate agent coming today to look at it.

Some minor flooding round here, a bit worse further south towards Lismore/Grafton and inland where Kyogle had a record flood

But Qld has born the brunt with rain still falling (we had a whooper dooper thunderstorm last night starting about 2335, but too dark yet to se the rain gauge) and a lot of flood records broken.  And all that water is moivng south into the western areas of NSW.  Some will eventually make it's way down to Lake Eyre which has a good quantity of water in it for only the 3rd time in (I think) 24 years, and this may actually fill it.

Hi guys I hope all is well with you queensland troupe as some of the pictures we are seeing here are of Brisbane flooded under 15ft of water and an area 8 times the size is the UK also under water.
If there is a relief fund to help those in need can someone post a link here for me many thanks.
my thoughts and prayers are with you all

Here are the details (http://www.news.com.au/breaking-news/floodrelief/how-to-donate-to-the-flood-relief-appeal/story-fn7ik2te-1225983681937) Bob but I'm not sure how you will do it from overseas - you may have to ask your bank.  I know it can be done but you need a Cusco (or something like that) number for the bank.  Maybe the Aust High Commission in London can advise (http://www.uk.embassy.gov.au/lhlh/aboutus.html)

Aha, found a site with details for International Donations http://www.qld.gov.au/floods/donate.html

I was in Cairns earlier this week and there is no problem up there at all, but that is about 1800km from Brisbane. The company made the decision to change flights and bring myself and the other rep up there back just in case. We arent that close to the river here plus we are up on a hill so we wont see any water here. It is very surreal here as it is a beautiful day with blue skies and sun and doesnt feel like half the city is underwater !!
