the first picture is of the old Magdalen hospital. The second is of Palmer's almshouses,These were built by the merchants of the city too house the poor

Nice shots, Bob.  The almshouse looks nice now but I bet it was  pretty bleak place back when it was built, without those pretty gardens and the trees.
