Not the oldest building in Exeter,it is in the middle of the Exeter business park and if i asked you to guess what it was i don't think anyone would get it rite so i will tell you it's a dental practice called called the smile dental centre. It is built of oak taken from woods planted back in the day's of Henry the 8th who had a few thousend acres planted so that he could keep building his warships these woodlands also contained yew trees there wood was used to make the English long bow, as the heart wood is resistant to compression and the sap wood resistant to expansion it's natures own spring and with a 160lb pull it could penetrate breastplate armour at 350 yds this is further than the lee enfield 303 rifle used by our trope's in the 1st world war. All this from a piciure of a dentist in exeter

An interesting structure.  I knew about H8's oaks but thought they were all in the New Forest area, so there you go, learnt something today, thank you Bob.

Interesting structure.  Did they have problems with flooding?  Do you know why they have put the building on stilts?  In Queensland it is to let the air flow and keep the building cool.

Thanks for sharing this fascinating story Bob. I am giggling to myself here about the circle being completed, except dentists traditionally rob the poor to give to themselves , unlike Robin Hood who gave to the poor Smiley

Nicely portrayed. Agree with Tommy re the right side of this image.

Well spotted Tommy, now i think most of you know I'm not that good with ps i do try now and again but need a lot more practice to get it rite, one day i will get there. Christoph this was designed by an Australian architect so maybe that is where he came up with this idea of the stilts but on this occasion it was done just to maximise the packing space on a small plot of land
