Sorry you're not feeling well Bob, best thing is definitely to rest.

Nice capture, but one I'd definitely return to when you're up and about, to get in closer. The approach is nice but the focal point is too distant for me.

Agree that the focal point just isn't focal enough

Get well soon Bob!!

Hope you'r feeling better soon!

Sorry, I am back again my hobby horse (actually it is a critique repeated over and over again at my photo club): too much sky.  So much sky needs to contain more interest eg sunset, bird, plane,....  By reducing the sky the house becomes more prominent (Jenn?).  You can test this out by scrolling down, letting the screen crop the sky.

Get well soon Bob - I like it but agree a pano crop would also work  - alternatively, I can see it as a photoshop dream - boost the contrast in the sky & turn it into a real moody one, and maybe even selective colour!

I have tried a different crop and taken a little of both suggestions now it's over to you.
Jenn the problem of getting in closer is that the hedge you see to the right is 6 ft high and you lose sight of the house about 100 yards down the hill from where i took this so short of knocking on there door to ask if i can take one from there garden i have to be satisfied with a view from the top of the hill

I can understand now Bob. The second image has less oomph on my monitor and maybe needs a little contrast or saturation to enhance those colours. I prefer this Bob. Thanks

Hope you're feeling better btw

Sorry, my suggestion was only crop the sky down to just above the bush on the right.  I liked how the path lead your eyes towards the house and how it started in the bottom left corner.  However, once at the house my eyes kept going and that is what I tried to stop by cropping the sky.  By cropping the path you have also lost this leading line.

If you don't want to 'loose' the sky, an alternative is to crop everything below the house.  As it is I think the sky and the path are competing and the house gets lost.  Too much to look at.

I have NO idea if this will work but just to throw it out there ... what about breaking all the rules and doing a portrait crop on this one Huh? Crop on the mud on the bottom right and then on the powerpole in the background on the left ... like I said ... no idea if it will work ... just throwing it out there !!  Huh?

Time is like a freeway of infinite lanes, all leading from the past to the future. A driver in lane A may crash, while a driver in lane B survives, it follows that by changing lanes one may be able to predict the future.

I have tried your suggestion here Tim. I now think that the best answer is for me to go back one day with a telephoto lens and take another one, you never know it may be one for next month!

It's a difficult subject because you want the leading line but the roadway is very dominating.  Could you get up close to the hedge and use that as the leading line?  That would cut out the roadway.  Depends a bit on what is in the field the other side.

Odille i could park close to the hedge and stand on the roof of my car !but as i weigh 18.5 stone or 259lb or 117.7 kilo not a good idea. Maybe i will just ask if i can go in and take a picture and use either driveway or footpath as a leadin
