Found this tip on a pro forum I am on.  Only drawback (excuse the pun) is that you have to buy a packet of evil ciggies to get it.

I don't smoke, but keep a pack of filter cigarettes in the toolkit for this.  Marty Rickard taught me this, so credit where credit is due.  Take an old 15 foot long bulb release of the air hose type and take off the plunger portion.  There is usually a sharpened plastic tube in the end of the hose that can be driven into the cigarette filter.  Light and place the cig, and when you need the smoke, squeeze the bulb, or if you'd rather, remove the bulb, too, and blow through the hose, which will give you more smoke and a longer stream.  The 15' gives you space to get back.

Interesting.  I'll keep it in mind.  However, we have not had a cigarette in the house for almost 20 years.
