Day 19 Exeter guildhall

http://www.lightartforum.com/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=4305

This is the oldest municipal building still in regular use in Britain, it serves as the head quarters of Exeter City council it is also the official residence of the Lord mayor of Exeter although no one has lived there for about 600 years there is still an apartment maintained there for the Lord Mayor to relax, in between duties, and for anyone who thinks that it is a bit extravagant try attending 1521 functions  in your term of office of just 365 days. Yes I've done it well Hilda Lord Mayor me Lady Mayoress and i have the badge to prove it. Just didn't look good in skirt and blouse !!!!

Time is like a freeway of infinite lanes, all leading from the past to the future. A driver in lane A may crash, while a driver in lane B survives, it follows that by changing lanes one may be able to predict the future.

Forgive my indulgence Bob but your revelation has reminded me of my youth and our neighbour who was elected Mayor. At his inauguration and swearing in, their whole family was in attendance to watch to auspicious occasion. Their 5 year old son was overheard in the Gentlemen's toilets speaking to a man as they washed their hands. "Hello sonny said the man - why exactly are you here tonight?" Quick as a flash and proud as punch the young boy piped up " My Dad has just been made King of Mordialloc"!!

Lovely story you've shared. Shows us how good folk do such wonderful deeds in their times in office.

Lovely building
