I think I might have posted this link previously. I was looking at it tonight and there are 2 new stories / series of pics on it.
It doesnt get updated that often but there are some AMAZING photographs on this site. Click the link to "features" then click on the large photo which cycles through and you will be able to see all the photos for that story.

Time is like a freeway of infinite lanes, all leading from the past to the future. A driver in lane A may crash, while a driver in lane B survives, it follows that by changing lanes one may be able to predict the future.

Well Tim. It sure confronts a lot of emotions and I really am rendered a bit speechless. Thanks for the link. I will continue to visit the site as it's a graphic and beautifully portrayed portal for photojournalism.

Impressive stuff, even while being very distressing - that human beings can be so brutal to do these things to their fellows.  Makes you wonder if there is any hope at all for our =sad society

I agree that while some of the stories are distressing they make you realize how lucky we really are ! They also highlight how much work needs to be done worldwide to help people who are unable to help themselves, not because they don't want to, but because they lack the basic needs just to make it through day to day. It shows you just how tough human nature is when you look at what some of these people have been through.

Agree with that, Tim, we really are the lucky country.  That poor blinded woman!  And she has AIDS as well.

I don't know quite how we go about stopping such things happening but I try to contribute when I can to organisations like amnesty, but so few of them seem to be pro-active, rather than reactive after the fact.

It reallly goes to show that apart from taking a picture of a lovely sunset or a flower,,, a camera can be used in many ways to capture emotion, thought and even social economics.

When I get a new camera, I would to try out proper "street" photography to see if I can capture real people and their lives...

I actually did go out to do it one day but found the task of taking random people photos as they walked about the city or worked in the city all a bit daunting.  Its not as easy as it sounds!!!
