Hi there
I'm calling in here from Scotland. Mostly been using 35mm SLRs (old ones - the newest one is an olympus OM-10 which is older than I am!) but a couple of weeks ago I splashed out and bought myself a Nikon D60 for my birthday.
So, anyway I think I'll post some images and see what people think.

Welcome to our forum! Look forward to seeing the pics.
Remember that with a DSLR you expose for highlights, not shadows as you do for film. Other than that, enjoy the freedom of no film and processing costs.

It's funny you should mention that because I have been finding that I'm consistently under-exposing pictures (not by much, only one stop or so) with the camera set to aperture priority. I guess I'm still finding my feet a little, it's surprising how different shooting digital can be different to shooting film, considering the controls on the camera are largely the same.

Yes, it can be a trap. White Balance is MUCH more important, I find, and it's taken me to years to adapt to shooting for highlights, and I still haven't got it right!

I bought a magazine today which had a guide on how to shoot better shots with a digital SLR - going over the basics again can't hurt I guess.
Ultimately if it gives me an excuse to get outside and shoot hundreds more pictures that's got to be a good thing :p
edit: Oh I don't think I answered the question asked by "Tim N" earlier - currently staying in Ruchazie in the east side of Glasgow. Glasgow has some great architecture and civic lighting here seems to be wonderful for some reason. Plus with a short-ish hop you can be right up in the highlands

Unfortunately that was one of the 2 corners of Scotland I didnt get to ... the other was the north eastern tip ... otherwise I toured extensively through Scotland !

Welcome aboard. We have relatives in Scotland, but have never been ourselves (on the 'to do' list). Hope to see some of the lovely landscape and lochs if you can.
