An off-topic plug. First and last you will hear of it.
With all the travelling going on out there, some of you might like to to test out my new car rental site at www.carsglobal.com
I have recently set up a distribution affiliation with an Irish company that provides a secure International car rental / hire, search, comarison and booking engine.
The service features 500 car rental suppliers, 22,000 locations in over 135 countries. They offer best available price and covers over 95% of the available rental fleet globally. Pricing is available in your local currency and many languages, all major airports, most cities and regional centres are included. On booking a voucher is created and emailed for presentation at the pick up counter. We simply receive the standard agents booking fee for each rental.

I've bookmarked it but it came up with no results for Christchurch (NZ).  Hopefully by the time I can afford to go again you will have some lined up.

I've just peeked too, and Frankston missed by a long mile - there's at least 6 Hire Car specialists there. Worth a squiz for you to consider.

Tough crowd! Both places seems to have plenty of cars when I do a search...

I just did a search for both Christchuch and it shows both the airport and the city - no problem here is Christchurch airport:
https://www.cartrawler.com/res/affiliate/indexBook.php?clientID=234899&temp=hybrid1&tempclr=affiliate&countryID=NZ&pickupID=360&returnID=360&pickupName=Christchurch%20-%20Airport&returnName=christchurch%20-%20airport&pickupDate=14&pickupMonth=8&pickupYear=2010&returnDate=23&returnMonth=8&returnYear=2010&pickupHour=10&pickupMinute=0&returnHour=10&returnMinute=0&age=35&currencyID=AUD&carGroupID=0&residenceID=AU#book

and Frankston, I did a search for 14th to 23rd of september as a 35year old (I wish) and it works fine:
https://www.cartrawler.com/res/affiliate/indexBook.php?clientID=234899&temp=hybrid1&tempclr=affiliate&countryID=AU&pickupID=1230&returnID=1230&pickupName=Melbourne%20-%20Frankston&returnName=melbourne%20-%20frankston&pickupDate=14&pickupMonth=8&pickupYear=2010&returnDate=23&returnMonth=8&returnYear=2010&pickupHour=10&pickupMinute=0&returnHour=10&returnMinute=0&age=35&currencyID=AUD&carGroupID=0&residenceID=AU#book

If you just type in the first 3 or 4 letters of the  like Chris or Frank or the airport code ie SYD, LAX, HEA all the choices come up. Anyway I promised no more on it

Far be it from me to be a trouble maker, as you know AD, but there are currently no cars available to hire ex Brisbane airport pickup 11/09 and drop off 12/09?Huh?  Shocked Shocked  Huh?

https://www.cartrawler.com/res/affiliate/indexBook.php?clientID=234899&temp=hybrid1&tempclr=affiliate&countryID=AU&pickupID=1566&returnID=1566&pickupName=Brisbane%20-%20Airport&returnName=brisbane%20-%20airport&pickupDate=11&pickupMonth=8&pickupYear=2010&returnDate=12&returnMonth=8&returnYear=2010&pickupHour=10&pickupMinute=0&returnHour=10&returnMinute=0&age=48&currencyID=AUD&carGroupID=0&residenceID=AU#quote

And adding a day at a time, got to 5 days before I could finally hire something - a bus!!!! Grin Grin

Oh too funny Ross. Hire the bus!!! You and Cher can come down visit and spend 2 nights in the Little Desert with me, photographing the magical wildflowers after all these enormous rains!

I am sorry but this thread tickles my fancy... could it be that I have a 'left of field' sense of humour?

Thanks Mark. I have now a link to the pages.
