Well after much thinking and talking and soul searching I have decided to give the school teaching away. I have handed in my notice at the school where I am employed and in 6 weeks will be no longer full time employed as a teacher !
I am hopefully moving into industry, into the Learning Development and Training ... my teaching will help a lot there. One of the biggest motivators behind the change is unfortunately financial. School teachers are capped in what they can earn and there is no bonus for working hard and performing well. There is also fairly limited opportunity for career advancement so its time for me to move on !!!

On the plus side I hope that I will have more time to spend with Isla who is growing up so fast and more time to look after my health with exercise and more time to take photos ! (More money is a bonus too Smiley).

If anyone has a job out there for an ex-school teacher in learning and development let me know Smiley

Time is like a freeway of infinite lanes, all leading from the past to the future. A driver in lane A may crash, while a driver in lane B survives, it follows that by changing lanes one may be able to predict the future.

Good luck with it Tim.  Our good teachers are not valued, I believe, but then I have personally known some (when I worked in ACT Education) who did nothing to earn appreciation, they were, quite frankly, morons with no people skills.  They had been moved into curriculum planning!!  A case of a few poor quality apples souring the barrell for the good guys (if you'll excuse the mixed metaphor!).

Hope it all goes well for you.

A quantum leap Tim but it's having the faith in your ability to conquer new challenges plus the love and support of a partner who believes in your decision making, which will give you great courage and a certain element of excitement also.
I wish your new venture to be a roaring success.
