I went to a short musical performance a few hours ago and am bursting to put my tuppence halfpenny worth in for this month's theme.

Watch this space Smiley    ( or at least the one in the right gallery!)

The May theme of patterns.. 'tis up and awaiting your fine input - yet again I have been MIA on missions of business and family to keep food on our table.
Life has its (worthy) challenges at the moment. There are plenty of categories awaiting submissions. Odille's own 365, which I thought was a great idea has not had a taker - and that is the mother of all daily challenges.
Also the idea of subitting any prized image as an image of the month across all categories (a new feature when uploading) no takers?

I think the fact that we are still a small community is having an affect on how may submissions are going into each category.

I also think givin this fact, we should rethink very carefully about creating categories because, as far as I can see, there is a lot of wasted space on this forum with a lot of categories on the home page having very seldom use or none at all!

My views are that we still need to keep it clean & simple.

Moving onto Bobs original query, we definately need a quicker turn-around for monthly categories, as these do seem to generate pictures and posts and we may be in danger of people losing interest.  Is there anyway you caould maybe possibly appoint a 2nd person even to just look after that side of things?  Because I know all to well about life, family and work commitments make it very hard to  keep on top of social activities as well..

Anyways... thats my views on this  Grin

I'm not sure the world is ready for two Admin Dudes just yet Tommy...  Grin! I also recall AD saying (in a previous discussion about this problem) that the process is somewhat convoluted and requires use of programming code - ie opportunities to seriously break the forum and heap further work on AD, so while it may help us, I don't think it is entirely feasible!

I think we need to get back to the system of having the theme one month in advance - ie the Winner of the May comp picks the July theme, June comp picks August etc, that way AD can set up the gallery in advance at a time that suits him! Honour system not to post until the first of the month! (Means AD will have to invent a theme for June).

Probably also a good time to revisit the "rules" - number of entries each month, is the comp open for the full month, how long is voting open for and when does it start? Can the moderators (Tim and Odille) lock voting? Sort these out and then its just a simple matter for AD to drop in, post the winner, and ad the gallery for the following months competitions at times that are convenient!!!

Long winded, so must be my four cents worth!!!  Grin Grin

As for stars Odille, no queue jumping, there are a few missing...!  Shocked Grin

The voting system could always be changed to a poll vote system which can be opened at the end of the month and closed a week into the new month or something ?

Time is like a freeway of infinite lanes, all leading from the past to the future. A driver in lane A may crash, while a driver in lane B survives, it follows that by changing lanes one may be able to predict the future.
