Is it the f2.8 model ? When I got my canon I was trying to decide between the sigma and the canon ... I was just lucky I got sent the wrong (Image Stabiliser) model as you might remember ...

Looks lovely and sharp and great colour too.
Really like the kitty pic and reflection !

Time is like a freeway of infinite lanes, all leading from the past to the future. A driver in lane A may crash, while a driver in lane B survives, it follows that by changing lanes one may be able to predict the future.

Thanks Tim, the top 2 were hand held at 200mm, the bottom at 70mm. The model I got was the
APO 70-200mm f2.8 EX DG HSM II Macro, it seems to be pretty good but have read that the Tamron is slightly sharper. Also, with the earlier releases of this model, (same lens name) there were some problems with the front lens element and HSM mechanism. These seemed to occur on the lenses that had the serial numbers starting with 101, 102 & 103. The lenses with the serial number starting with 104 were the good ones and that is what I got. (I asked for this specific serial number). HSM seems to be pretty fast and focus on this one seems to be accurate to. Some earlier ones had slight front & back focus issues, but that could be fixed. I will test it out on the tripod soon and see how it goes. I also got a Metz Mecablitz 4 AF-1 digital flash as well so need to learn how to use that. Sigma has just announced 5 new lenses including a 70-200mm with 2.8, OS & HSM and a 17-50 f2.8 with OS & HSM, both EX lenses, also an 8-16mm f4.5-5.6 & an 85mm f1.4 HSM, will be interesting to see what they are like.

Nice Paul - we went for Sigma 18-250 for walkaround lens last year - given our "style" of shooting, the wide angle was more important than the wider apperture, and are very happy with what we got. And I couldn't let Cher have all the fun with her early b'day present (the 100 macro) I got a sigma 150-500 as mine - from the reviews, it stacks up well against the Canon 100-400, although the difference in price equates to about half a new 7D! Can't wait for the boys' footy season to start, but have been very happy with the results from stalking the local wildlife!!!! Grin

I commented in the Gallery as I couldn't find a thread.  You got a goodie, I think.

I would like a good macro myself one day, the Sigma 105 or 150mm would be nice. The Sigma 150-500 would be perfect for wildlife, I bet its got a bit of weight to it.
I wanted the 70-200 for a while, pretty happy now that I got it. Got myself a Lowepro Flipside 300 backpack camera bag today, seems to be a good bag.
