Hi, my name's Mike and I've been interested in photography as a hobby for many years now. I started off with a film SLR and dabbled with some colour d&P. I've been a convert to the digital format for about 6 years and now own a Canon 350D & 30D along with a few lenses.

I'll admit to being a lapsed member to a few photographic forums, hopefully I'll stay the course here Smiley

Hi Odille,

I'm from North West England, near the City of Chester, although I'm a Welshman by birth  Smiley

Hi Mike and welcome aboard.
Don't be put off bythe rude and bombastic Australians. They (we) are pretty decent underneath the crude exterior and thin veneer of respectability!.
We'll look forward to your redeemed attendance (occassionally is OK, we all have a life of sorts)

Yuk,  yuk, yah!
You have all fallen into my evil trap.
Yes!
You see, my plan is to breed Welsh people with photographers from Northern NSW Autralia to create photographers that shoot lots of sunrises while mumbling like Sean Connery..."Did yu shee the beau'iful leight overrr theurr!"

Is he really? Shows what I (don't) know - plenty.

I was sure he was raised in a Welsh coal mining town, but I could no have been more wrong - in fact Fountainbridge Scotland 1930.

Noooo, but I do go out occassionally with a couple of hamsters stapped to my thighs and a lampshade on my head. Not a good look.
I generally also speak Swedish when I do this. My children will not walk with me.

Now, back to photography!

Tom Jones... it's not unusual to be loved by everyone.

Very yummy in his heyday, but still has an excellent voice. Grin

Oh yes, photography, something I wish the weather would clear up for. One new and one secondhand lens and Helen wants to play. Cheesy

When I was about twelve we had neighbours move in straight off the boat from northern Italy. They spoke very little english.
They drank wine and ate beatiful arromatic cheeses, pickled vegetables, lots of pasta.
My family BBQ'd, ate steak, veg and salad and drank their share of beer. We're talking late 60's here.

My parents invited the mum and dad (Lucy and Fernando) and their three children over for a BQ and a few drinks with a lot (too much) Tom Jones, Engelbert Humperdinck, Mr Guitar (ouch) et al.

Well within six months, my parents were confirmed rose and chablis fans and the Berdininiatti were confirmed fans of Tom, Engelberbert, Mr Guitar, beer and BBQ's.
Lights off in the living room, Tom at full song, with a bit of 'Why, why, why?.....' parents and kids dancing and singing along in Italian and English. (the parents a bit wobbly)
Great memories.

Wouldn't you love to nw what they said to each other when they went home after the first visit?

Sounds like great fun, and the type of 'good neighbourliness' we are losing today but definitely need a lot more of.
