Hi Tay, Welcome!
Good choice, going to photography school, and what a time to be doing that.
Technology has changed unbelievably in he last few years, but it other than the equipment, it still comes to the basics of light and composition.
Enjoy yourself, show some pictures, ask questions...it's all good.
