Hi all. I'm new to light forum. The member by the name of Matt put me onto it.

I stepped into SLR gear 12 months ago with a Canon 400D, 18-55mm and 75-300mm kit lenses.

Some of you may already know this, but the 400D underexposes consistently by about 2/3 of a stop. I was getting really wound up about it so my wife said to go and do an SLR course to learn how to sidestep the 400D "feature". She said if I do the course, I could buy another lens.

So I did the course, got bitten big time by the photography bug. I don't care about the underexposure any more because with manual photography it's irrelevant.

A couple of weeks ago I upgraded to a Canon 24-105mm F4L lens. L-series glass is seriously awesome!

Welcome Herb.  I have just upgraded to a 70-200L lens - bit of a revelation, isn't it?  And I agree that shooting manual is the only way to go.  Look forward to seeing your work.

Hello and welcome !
I am a little jealous about the 24 - 105mm f4 L ... I would really like that one myself Smiley ! (not that I can complain about my kit really !)
