For newbies, It is a 2 step process - you have to make a comment before you can vote. Comments previously made in the thread do not count.  Then you go back and vote in the Ratings area.

Could we set it up as a poll at the end of each month like is done in some other forums ? That way its just a simple click and vote !
As per other thread it becomes much more simple to poll if there is only a limited number of entries from each person ... this also means uses need to be more discerning as to which photo they think should win, a single vote not to be wasted ??
Dont know if this would work ... or do people like leaving comments before they can vote ? Also being able to vote for multiple images might appeal to some people ?

Tim, I like our way of doing it, seeing all the photos on the gallery at once, I find it much easier than scrolling through pages and pages of photos like some other forums.  I just wish we did not have to do the comment first, makes it a bit tedious.

I always try to vote for at least 5 images in a month.

As we currently only have a competition winner with no runner's up or other places then Tim's idea makes a lot of sense.
Another thing that i and most of you will have noticed is that the competition entries and votes come from the same core group so is it perhaps time to encourage some of our newbies to enter? or a competition just for them? it may encourage them to dip there toe in the water. Sorry to muddy the waters just my thoughts.

No, it's Ok, we do need more participation.  After all, we were all newbies once.  There is a prize (notthe case on many forums) so let's consider this a challenge to all the new folk - post a couple of (a few) entries.  We all had to start somewhere.

I like this as well, being able to see them all, but the voting system actually stopped me entering and voting for a good few months when I first joined the forum, it is a bit daunting.
I guess with the poll you have to set it up as a different thread and then the pics arent on one page and you have to scroll thru etc. Perhaps we can put the "way to vote" to a poll ? Along with that perhaps we can put our "number of competition entries" to a poll as well ? That way everyone can have their say !

Done - Open to suggestions of other ways to vote/other options so suggest we do NOT start completing the poll for say 2 days so people can comment on the questions asked and they can be altered. After that - suggest it remain open for a week if everyone agrees??
