Florida Bay - Terrigal NSW

http://www.lightartforum.com/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=261

I took this from a balcony in the Crown Plaza hotel at Terrigal just a few kilometres from where we live.
Oo-er, I hear you say, living it up!
Taken last June, this was the first sunny morning in almost a week of record-breaking torrential rain, that had  us unable to access our home due to local flooding and downed trees and electrical wires. No electricity for four days. The hotel was kind enough to put local families up for a reduced rate. We live about 70klms south of Newcastle, Australia's 6th largest city and a major exporter of coal to China (nothing to be proud in these days of climate change). There had been over 75 of these large bulk coal carriers anchored waiting to fill their holds. Most had put to sea when the storms arrived, but one, the Pasha Bulker was washed ashore, where it was pummeled mercilessly for days. A very weird week.

Lovely shot, Mark, I like all the big ships lurking out there - it leads you eye to the horizon and makes the viewer (this one anyway) wonder what else is over there . . . ?

Lovely shot.  I may have been tempted to have cropped out the rocks and stuff at the bottom as they pull the eye a little and just make a God Beam image.  Still, it's a beautiful shot as it is. Smiley

Thanks for the comments guys.

I took quite a few of these and found that exposing for the mid tones of the water in the mid-distance gave the best overall exposure..

BTW here's a link to a Google page of images of the Pasher Bulker, the ship that washed ashore:
