I got tempted, I just bought a Hasselblad 553ELX body, a prism finder and a 150mm lens.  I must be mad.

Now it is possible to fit various digital backs to all the old Blads and this is my ultimate aim.  I'll buy a film back for now just to try it out, but one day . . .

There is nothing quite like the naughty feeling. Should I?, shouldn't I? Sensibility goes out the window.
Small case of the guilts the next day.
I'm sure you'll get your value out of it!

It's a huge case of the guilts, but you are quite right.  I'm hoping to use it for my entry for the same competition I got shortklisted in last year, the Tweed Naturally Art Awards.

It's arrived!!  Grin Grin

I'm just negotiating for a back and I'll be able to use it!

I'd forgotten how good the build is in these things.  It's like a Mercedes compared to a Japanese car when you look at it next to the DSLRs, and P&S cameras don't even rate.  The lens is just beautiful.  I'm leaving ti all wrapped in teh box for now until I get the Manual (ordered) and back.

Will keep you posted!

Yeah, after a year and a half of shooting nothing buy my D200, I got my Hasselblad out of the closet and nearly cried for joy just looking through the viewfinder. What a big, beautiful, sharp image on the ground glass. And the negatives! The detail! The resolution! Oh man. I think I'm going to take it out of the closet again soon. Just wish I had a place to print or to get good scans at a cheap price.

Yes, that's the problem.  I hope to shoot some tranny film and get it scanned, and I'm looking into Polaroid backs, as Fuji make an instant film for the 6x6 format and if it is good, why not scan that at home?  It is about $2.50 per shot, though.

Now don't laugh..but...
Epson have recently released new LED technology scanners which blow all that precede in the affordable consumer stakes to the weeds.
How about the V350 at 9600 x 4800 dpi OPTICAL resolution withe a D-max (density of 3.2 - means deep rich blacks) for under AUD$300.
Or go the whole hog and check out the pro version -the V700 photo - an optical 6400x9600 and a density of 4 for under a grand in OZ - and about US$750

Think about that.
I have been looking around as my faithful canon 9900F will not stir to the calls of Vista premium 64bit (don't bother, I know)
Read teh spec on these little things (no payment for comment here, I promise)
http://www.epson.com.au/products/scanner/

Now with a medium format tranny, you would have a huge file to play with for not much money.
They review well.

Noooo!  I DID NOT need to know that.  Off to look at the link in another tab!

Well, I've bookmarked that V700, and downloaded the brochure, that's the one I want.  2 rolls of 120 film at once - Aaahh!

I may just have to add that to my budget. It would certainly encourage me to shoot more film to have the ability to get decent scans at an affordable price. And I believe I've been pretty clear about my preference for film. (I also prefer manual shift cars, tea that doesn't come in bags, coffee that I have to grind myself, cotton and wool...and yet, and yet, I love science and progressive politics.)

Warwick does great voice impersoations, he has DA down to a 'T' and often does it on things like poeple in clubs, kids on skateboards and other outrageous topics.  It always has me rolling in the aisles.

his best friend from school is on ABC Newcastle (Garth Russell) and he and W ring each other up and do the nost bizarre voices and have these weird conversations, even just hearing one side is excrucuatingly funnt.  And then there are Garth's messages on our answer phone . . .

As for when they visit each other - I lay in a stock of wine (for fortification) and tissues.
