Can I please get a clarification on the monthly theme challenge ...

Are the photos supposed to be taken DURING the month or are photos taken ANY time ok to submit ?

Yes Tim i care i think that if you want to enter a compertition then you should be prepaired to put yourself out to take a photo that suits the subject and go out and take it.However once the subject has been announced it is fair game to take photos to enter so don't announce to early

So you think photos entered should be taken in the month of the competition only ?

I thought I replied here, I must have not pressed 'Post'.

If memory serves me correctly, admin dude said at the start that we woudl revisit this at some stage, and that maybe laetr it would be photos taken that month only.  Personally I don't think we have reached that stage yet, but maybe we could have a 'second tier' award for the best pic taken during the month of the comp.  This means the themes nust be announced promptly so people can go out and get snapping.

Or every few months we could have a second 'limited time' shoot for a comp/challenge. What about a seasonal one - at the moment it could be a 2 division comp with best autumn / spring shot (to accommodate northern & southern hemisphere shooters.

NO Tim what i said is that photos should be taken FOR that compertition from the date that it is announced which may be earlier than the competition start date.this would still be acceptable as the photo was taken for the compertition all be it be for it's start date.

Our/My two cents worth is a straight fence sit! In the perfect world, it should be a photo taken for the challenge, however, have to agree with Odille - I don't think we are there yet! The two tier system gets messy, but as a compromise why not try say every 3rd challenge (announced in advance) as a must be taken for the comp challenge??  Grin

My preference is participation 1st and everything else 2nd.
The primary object of the theme challange is to provide a little project each month, to assist in keeping the creative juices flowing.

I personally do not mind if anyone sees a "fit" for an image from the archive, as any creative effort deserves some daylight, and there is currently no limit to the number of entries. It is very nice that you all care enough to discuss tho'.  Grin

My main reason for inquiring was the fact I have now uploaded 2 pictures which I have already had on the forum way back (a few months ago when I joined up) which I thought would be good for the current competition !

I agree with Mark that at least getting submissions in the comps at the moment is priority ! I remember a few comps back in Oct - Dec where we only had a few entries.
