I am actually quite surprised. People are starting to find us, despite the fact that we got kicked off
www.gumtree.com for not being 'local'.
I placed ads this morning on Gumtree.com in the following cities:
New York, Chicago, Sydney, Melbourne, Singapore, Hong Kong, London, Belfast, Dublin, Johannesburg, Cardiff, Glagow
That was a lot of work!
Gumtree.com is a 'local' free directory service offering identical listing services in various cities around the world.
So, I placed 'localised' ads describing the goals of 'Light Art' forum as building local communities of people interested in photography as art or a form of self expression and that we hoped to build local communities resulting in meet-ups of local, like minded people. All of this with the opportunity of meeting similar people online around the world.
I think that aligns with the concept of local, don't you?
Gumtree didn't. Unfortunately, via a flurry of sequenced emails arriving in the space of 60 seconds, this international organis(z)er of "local" communities removed all of our postings.
Soooooooo, if you live in any of the communities mentioned above, get what we are trying to do here, and want to make yourself into a bone-fide Light Art hero, by founding a local Light Art chapter, please contact me. All it takes is to gather a few like-minded local people and we will post an appropriate board. eg Light Art - New York / Belfast / Cardiff... wherever there a few people likely to gather in the name of photography, please email to admin@.
Please help to spread the word in general.
