Dartmoor is a pretty bleak place especially the north moor as it is uninhabited

I love your series on Dartmoor Bob. It's a great spot, I was there for a week many, many years ago with a tent, a map and a compass.

Intent maybe, loitering - no, well maybe a little, we had a lot of fun. My school dumped a group of us there in the middle of nowhere and we had find our way to checkpoints over the week. No teachers, just us, it wouldn't happen these days but it was a life experience. To clarify the picture a little more I went to a military school so it wasn't the norm most days.

Not quite Derek now day's we dump about 1000 kids on dartmoor with a map,tent and compus in groups of 5 to locate and climb 10 tor's this is usually in may, all organised by the army on the north moor firing ranges. and yes they do stop firing while it is going on,both my son's have completed this 3 or 4 times.
