What a cool environment this is shaping up to be. I particularly enjoyed Mark's introduction so,  I guess that makes me number five cab off the rank.

I'm reminded of the first time I acquired a relatively serious camera. It was in the mid eighties, A Minolta, Apeture Priority SLR. Don't recall the model number. The first time I picked up my prints, I was hooked.  I took my Camera pretty well everywhere after that............for the next 5 or 6 years anyway. It became part of my body. I always found room for it if you know what I mean.

In 1989 I took it to Europe. I partcularly remember arriving in Venice. It was a sunny, late afternoon and the place was stunning.  For the next three days, all I did was take pictures. I didn't really want to do anything else. Just absorb the place and try to capture its beauty, not just from a far but up close and personal too.  I remeber on occassions I would stay in a place for hours, waiting for the light to change, or new subjects to arrive, anything that might inhance the composition.  I'm sure I was drooling at times and I can honestly say that I have never been that absorbed by anything since.

I purchased a 20D a couple of years back in an attempt to rekindle that old creative flame.  Its flickered a few times but after reading Mark's intro I have made up my mind to pick up my camera again.  You know, every time I leave the house. I wont take the whole kit, just the body with a lense.

I shall post in some pics soon.

Thanks ArtLight

Hello Paul R,

You're a poet and you don't know it. Thank's for joining, for the kind words, and a very succinct version of what it is actually all about.
Other than a few tried and trusted elements of life, like your loved ones, kids...teddy, nothing quite beats wandering with a camera in a foreign city. And how could you mind waiting for the light in a place like Venice.
Get some of those images up.

Regards,

MJ

Hi Paul, Venice is one of the places on my list of very love to see.

I'm putting this in all your intro posts - please go to your profile and add you location so it shows up under your name.  You can be as vague as the continent or as specific as your suburb, jsut so we all know how near/far we all are.  Pretty, pretty please.
