Derek is this month's winner with his beautiful image 'Venetian Street', a watery interpretation that impressed you, the judges.
In terms of rating points it was a tie this month with Odille's 'Street Band, Salamanca Markets Hobart' also a great interpretation of life and celebration on the street. Two very different takes on the theme, but as always it is open to your interpretation.
On combination of ratings and comments Derek wins the day.

...and here is Dereks effort. Thank you to all who entered, there are some great images there... and to those that took the time to vote, a big thank you, as well.
Now on to March for the Theme of 'Science' selected by Tim N, last month's challenge winner. Derek gets to choose the April Theme.

I imagined you might be.
All we can do unfortunately, is have a hybrid means of determining a winner, and at least the system does that without intervention. The idea of rating points combined with the number of people moved to make a comment, is idealistic and not perfect. I think the main issue is getting people to participate. One of the downfalls of the auto post generation from gallery submissions is that people have become less inclined to visit the gallery itself, just viewing via the posts. But the gallery is where the EXIF data can be found.

Hopefully the developer will get around to including the comments and the ratings into their own related posts too.
I am open to alternative suggestions. This is one of the better theme responses we have had, and that is a good, thing. Let's hope particpation continues to grow. I need to find a sponsor for a prize tantalizing enought to get people off their collective bottoise.
Mind you the prize should be secondary

Thanks to all for your kind votes and comments. I feel honoured to have been recognised for my image amongst all the high quality, creative submissions in Febs comp. My apologies Odille for tripping you on the finishing line, I loved your image and had even voted on it myself.
I joined this forum looking to communicate with like minded people and the experience has already exceeded my expectations. Seeing the creativity, image wizardry and friendly feedback from forum members adds inspiration for the craft I hold so much passion for. Thankyou.
