Where is a good spot witin 1 hour of Tweed that:

*  faces north/north-west
*  has a clear view of the sky
*  no high trees or blocking mountains
*  free of light pollution

As you guys have been out and about all over, I thought I'd ask if you know a good spot.

It is for photographing the comet tonight/tomorrow morning.  I did OK this morning just by taking Currumbin Creek Rd but I would prefer to go to a spot I know is good.  I can think of one on the Kyogle Rd (where there is a table shlter but no table looking back over Mt Warning etc) that is good but it's a long drive on twisty roads for 1am in the morning (tomorrow's appointment with the comet is earlier schedule now I know where to find the little bugger!).

Of course if anyone esle can suggest a good spot feel free to do so.

Hi Odille

The shelter you already know about would be ideal (unless maybe you wanted to have a sleepout at the Border Ranges NP/Springbrook NP/Lamington NP as they would be awesome spots) or the backroads on the flats around M'bah presumably where you were last night) if you turn left on the Currumbin backroad there are some open spots on the side of the road near that old shack Cher did as B & W. Any further north and the Gold Coast lights will be to noisy! Shame its not North North east - Hastings Point or Cabarita or Fingal would be ideal.
I'm sure there are some spots up near Avocado world (yes folks, Tweed has the big avocado) but not sure how whether you would be aiming too much over Murbah and loseit in the lights!!!!

Cheers
