NOTE: THERE IS NOW A NEW BOARD for this topic in "Discussion by genre" and a matching gallery. PLEASE upload all imagaes via the gallery topic - Monthly them challenge + current month name and a post for discussion will be automatically created in the "Discussion by Genre" board.
Odille suggested a theme of 'Seascapes' for June. A great idea - except some of you live far from the sea, so we will accept, lakes, lochs, tarns, rivers, creeks, brooks, harbours - anything bigger than a domestic swimming pool, but in an artistic sense.
For this, our 2nd month, I will be more organis(z)ed and we will vote. One each only and not for thine self please. Don't panic, I'll get it set up in time. Until we are swamped with entries, there is no limit per user, if they are on topic.

OK. I'll go first. A couple of times when I have been down to Duranbah beach the fishing trawlers have been coming in, it is surreal to see the surfers in the background and the trawlers looming up behind. A real juxtaposition of work and leisure!
OOps, on the other machine. I'll come back. (Mark, we need a gallery)

Just last weekend was the AIA (American Institute of Architects) sandcastle building contest they have each year and I missed it. I bet there was a prize winning shot there for sure. What could have been huh?
Maybe it might be time to make a trip to the Houston ship channel, always something cool to look at there.

OK new "Disucussion by Genre" board has been set up with "child" sub-category boards for each month. So please post all challenge images into the gallery and the post will be created automatically.
Odille. Just delete your post here and re-upload your image to the gallery please and we will be off and running. It took a second look to notice the dolphin in the face of the wave too!
Hey Dave, There some great surfing footage on the Houston ship channel, where they ride boards on the wake of supertakers for miles - cool.

I've ridden over those wakes in a 14' aluminum boat. They are huge. I can't believe anyone would actually ride a board there, never heard of that before. Once you get away from the coast a little ways that ship channel water is nasty.

Ok, I give up. Where is this new board we are supposed to post to. Last time I upload a couple of pictures they show up in a place unexpected and this time I can't find it. Is it another actual board with a different url? Do you have a link to it?

Hi Dave,
Sorry for the confusion, its an Australian thing. If there is a simple way...we avoid it.
Ok. Two parts to this. 1. The Gallery and 2. In the boards half way down the list you will see 'Discussion by Genre' (or theme) The board topics in this area pretty much match to a corresponding gallery.
So first up to load an image go to gallery > at the top you'll see recent images etc. Below that you'll see the galleries. The second one is the Monthly theme challenge. Click on the title which will open the gallery and you will see the two closed galleries for March and the new one for June. Again click on the title to open. At the bottom of each gallery are options to upload images. Click upload image, navigate to the image on your computer, give it a title and description and you are done. That publishes you picture into the gallery, but it also creates a post, including your image into the corresponding discussion board within 'Duscussion by genre" (perhaps I should have set up its own category?). The idea is that if people just want to quickly browse images, they can go to the gallery and look. Or they can go to the disccussion boards and view messages which still contain the images. Images into gallery first -appearing both in the gallery and on the co-responding disscussion board.
The gallery is a separate, third party plugin for the board, and when setting it up, it seemed like a good idea to have it generate a discussion area. Not perfect, but a benefit. Plus I was finding that people were attaching images to messages anyway. The idea of publishing the image once and having it appear both in the galleries and the boards appeared to be a good idea, but perhaps it isn't. Nothing is set in concrete and we always open to suggestions.

Mark, I love the way the Gallery post generates a thread, It's just great. Please don't change it. Maybe a READ ME FIRST sticky detailing how it works. ON the Gallery note, can we enter more than once in the monthly themes, I see yourself and others have more than one. I'm used tio those more crowded boards where it is one only. I have a couple of others for seascape!

Fly, be freeeeee!! Perhaps I am too casual, but put up as many as you feel like. There is not meant to be a limit, just a topic and if you have few go for it. If we get to a point where we are inundated with entries we might need to review that, but I do not see that happening in a hurry.

Now getting really confused getting an old grey head around all this!!!! We can post as many as we like on theme! Tick - that is goood! We can't vote for our own (damn no skullduggery) that is good! Then you say vote once! I was interpretting vote once for each pic and Cher was interpretting vote once and once only!!! Bloody confusing even for Aussies!!! Having a foot in each camp, I have rated each pic and Cher is refusing to rate any as we have already overrated!! Help!!! Cheers

My goodness. Lets all stop right here, have a glass of red or whatever..and reconvene. I'm back, I have mine. The "vote once" only applies to an image, vote on all if you wish, cream floats, it will all wash out. It is all very casual. Knock yourself out...vote on anything that appeals to you. BTW. You will notice that I have been uploading a few images by way of particpation. I exclude myself from being eligible from competing as such. I just enjoy being part of the process, if that is OK with everyone.

Remember, we have to rate theimaghes with the star system already built into the galleries feature. No one seems to be doing this.

Mark Cher assures me you will get used to my warped sense of humour (5 years down the track and she is nearly as bad!!!) (If the problems above are the biggest problems in our life, its a pretty good life!!! - And that it is!) We are about to create a new identity - something original like Cher and Ross - while the single identity seemed like a good idea at the time, the voting restrictions of one on each pic (surprisingly we do have differerent opinions on some aspects ) means a separate account will at least allow Cher a vote (as I got in first!!!). You do however have our solemn pinky promise that we will not vote on each others pics!! Cheers

No problemo. I was kind of wondering what you were up to...and really, if you do think it is the best image, vote for it. When we are playing for sheep stations, we'll review
