It is nice to see a bit of activity in this month's theme challenge and for those who have not yet entered, just register, if you haven't already, then grab the camera and go for a walk. we are looking for images of or from the street. Street life, activities, markets, populous cities...whatever you interpret.

To enter or vote (and we'd love get some voting activity happening), go to the theme gallery here:
http://www.lightartforum.com/index.php?action=gallery;cat=32
There is an upload link at the bottom of the page. To vote, just place a comment on the image and rate your favourites from 1 to 5 stars. Yes you can vote on more than one, but rate according to your preferences. We'd also prefer that you don't vote on your own  Wink

Now this raises a point I wanted to make.  My view of 'street life' was activities, so I posted three photos from the marketswhich I though showed that type of thing very well. Apparently not one of you agrees as I have nopt even got one comment and only one view of one shot (and that might have been me checking they showed up OK).

But what we have is what I consider, mostly, to be photos of streets, NOT streeet life.  There are only a few images showing people related activites on streets.  Where did I go wrong?

I'd like other member's opinions.

Only my interpretation Odille, but I would have said street life encompasses both with and without human presence, (I think life can be broadly interpretted to be signs of life which encompasses just about anything), but in ours we tried a different perspective in that they are night shots, but we still still showing some form of movement (eg buses, car trails, and rides) as the "life" component. As always, I guess it comes back to individual interpretations and preferences. As I commented on the "where have they gone" thread (missed the original post as not used to the flurry of activity that we are getting) - nice series, but I particularly like the "big band" shot - it has lots of atmosphere! Rest assured that when I get my lazy ... moving and vote, it will get a gong!!!!! Grin

Yes, I like your night ones with some movement.  I really meant some of the ones we have seen are nice photos but they are photos OF streets, not 'Street Life'.

It was a pretty wide interpretation. I did mention 'not about tar and gutters, but can be.' in the preliminary spiel.
It can be anything to do with streets, street life or whatever. my own interpretation lay closer Odille's in terms of Street life...but at the end of the day, we are trying to encourage interpretation and creativity. Equally, members can interpret according to their own views.

Lucky for me, Tim N as the January winner, gets to pick next month's theme (Phew!) off the hook.

Already done and had the comments that it was original / different and that its MY call Tongue  ... seriously tho if anyone has objections to a science / scientific theme then we can look at something else Smiley  ... just thought it was something different and might help people come up with something for the preserve our planet theme as well !!

Time is like a freeway of infinite lanes, all leading from the past to the future. A driver in lane A may crash, while a driver in lane B survives, it follows that by changing lanes one may be able to predict the future.

That is a good theme idea. Certainly a challenge!
