Hi there my name is Gordon.  Having read the Express Advocate story last week I decided to have a look at the forum.  It's great to see so many people with similar interests able to share their visual experiences.  It's also a great way for people to network and share their knowledge.

My story. I'm a recently retired copper of 24 years experience in the NSW Police.  My last 14 years were in the Forensic Imaging Section recording crime scenes with video, stills, virtual reality and terrestrial surveying.

Having left the Police in 2007 I did a great deal of soul searching regarding what I wanted to do with myself.  I finally decided, thankfully, to follow what I already knew, Virtual reality.

I have recently started a Virtual Tour and Photography business, GM Imaging.  gmimaging.com.au
My main focus is recording tourism/hospitality based projects and the building industry.  Funnily enough, many people said to me, 'the real estate industry would be the way to go'. I agree, but tell that to the real estate agents.  Anyway, I'm getting great feedback from web designers who have heaps of clients wanting to use my services.

At the moment I'm using a Canon 20D (soon to be a backup camera), Canon 20-35mm, 35-105mm, 70-210mm lenses.  I use a Sigma 8mm fisheye lens along with a 'Nodal Ninja' panoramic tripod mount for my panoramas and a Canon 580 EXII Speedlite flash.

I look forward to sharing images and knowledge with so many people with the same interests.

Cheers
Gordo.

Hi Gordo, welcome to Light Art.
What an interesting story and a fantastic, unique concept.
It just shows what you can do with a bit of imagination.
We are very thankful that the local paper found our little project newsworthy, we've had quite a few calls from locals in our area. Amazing.
You will probably already have seen that there is broad spread of very interesting people and interests here from around the world.
So jump in an post up some images - and hopefully enter the 'Preserve our planet' comp too!

Now, as an aside, there cannot be too many ex-police forensic photographers up this way. Is there any chance we might have met at the kids Hockey at Wyong? My girls  played for Grammar, then The Entrance 11's and 13's. Lucy & Hannah J

You got it in one, Mark.  So how are you, Andrea and the girls.  Are they still playing hockey?, Andrew is going again this year for Grammer, he's absolutly hooked ever since we bought him an over sized stick that he is cracking goals with. I had a look at your website, very impressive.

The girls are backing up for 'The Entrance' club again. It comes around too quickly. They are still in the surf with nippers and suddenly its hockey time again. We are just a taxi service.

Anyway, at least we can now call you Gordo instead of Slugguts. I'd consider just changing the user name to Gordo, just quietly!
Its easy and no one will be stalking you.
Great to see you have joined. Do throw a few images up, and by all means share a little of the 'knowledge'. There are some very keen and friendly people here.

Hi Just had a look through your VR samples. They are truly outstanding.

The view from the escarpment at Sublime Point on the South Coast, in your Illawarra series has a distinct 3D effect as the image rotates. You are on a winner with that system, if you can get travel and tour companies to adopt it.

All LA members should take a moment to view a few of these, they are very good quality VR stitched images.
