This image has potential. I haven't done portraits much but may I suggest a lower shooting position
and a bit to the right to try and get the houses out of the frame. Portrait view may be better for
this one to. By the looks of it there is trees and sand to the left of frame that would make
for a better background. The lower shooting position would get rid of the shadows a bit.
The exposure in the image is nice though.

 A bit of de ja vu in this shot.
1. My wife and I have good friends (whose daughters are freinds of my girls) that live on the public reserve / oval, just out of shot on the right.
2. The waterfront strip directly behind with the Fig in the background continues on to a grassed area where people leave there upturned dinghys for getting out to the boats offshore
3. To the far left is a broad view across Brisbane water, north west to Gosford
4. Just behind you there is a wooden climbing thingy made from painted marine ply with a circular "window" which we use to frame little ones playing.

We use this location quite a lot as a portrait location because of all those features.
It is an excellent location right around sunset and just after.
