Splash

This is my eldest daughter, Lucy.
The shot was taken at around 2pm on a warm but grey day, in a tidal rock pool, near where we live.
I asked her to dive under and come out of the water, head back so the water would cascade. In an earlier shot, I noticed that when she dropped down, the water sucked down around her sun vest, so I got her to repeat the process a few times. The images came out ok, but due to the grey day, were a bit flat, so I worked a number of layers in Photoshop to make the light more dramatic adding contrast and some highlights to an otherwise flat lit scene. I have been asked why she isn't in the middle. Well, she just isn't...and I think it works OK, balancing with the dark line of rocks in the background and the oily swirls of the water. A broken rule.

Can't believe this hasn't had a comment, I think it's a cracker.

I think having your wee lass off centre works well.  I'd maybe try cropping down to below the wave at the top as it distracts the eye away from the subject a little but apart from that, I think it's brilliant.  Even with the wave in, it's a damn fine image in my book.

Thank you Dale,
I like it. But I think I agree with your comment re the distraction of the surf line.
One of these days I'll have another go at it, too may images and too little time to play with them.
