Just to keep you all busy, I am launching a new format of Theme challenge at www.LightArtPhoto.com
It is called Light Art - 24 hours
Remember the "A Day in the Life of..." series? Well, it is not that.  Grin

But it is one day where you will be asked to take an image, or a series of up to 3 images (triptych) on any theme. The only requirement is that everyone must submit an image taken on a specific date. A mosaic of images from a single day.
They will presented as an 'image wall' using the Picles viewer pug-in www.piclens.com

The first date is Sunday March 1st 09, so you have 4 weeks from tomorrow to digest and think about it.
To enter, just go over to www.LightArtPhoto.com and register if you haven't already.
We'll set up a free gallery and person page for you. As is the case on Light Art Photo, all images go into YOUR gallery. You the create a new Post, select a category (or categories) in this case "March 2009 - 24 hours" and add your image(s) and if, you like, a few words. Add other descriptive tags and save.
You can still comment and Rate directly to the posts of others as we do here and select a star rating of 1 to 10.
After 12 months of these, if I have any money left  Grin I will produce a limited edition book, called Light Art 24 hours, so image quality should be paramount. Entering the competition will mean you agree to limited use of the image if it is judged by members as worthy of being included in the book, but of course you retain copyright always.

I/we (she who must be obeyed is watching in fear now) will go one step further and issue a challenge to all light artists to thank the Admin Dude (much maligned as he is and should be) to have a go! It costs nothing, no blood needs to be spilled and no animals need be hurt in production!!  Grin

So there is no theme or anything, you just take a shot on that day and submit it to the comp.

Well its not a daft idea ...I was in a book shop a few weeks ago and there was a photographic book all about the pictures that people took on  one day...Think the book had the name like ..24 hours in one day ..or something like that ...with each photo there was the time that the photo was taken going through the whole 24 hours..

SO this has something going for it..

Ok i'll sign up coz it could be hard to push the shutter button with my tougne if you rip my arms off...HE HE....John

Yeah I'm thinking of setting myself a personal challenge... "365"  It's to take at least one interes photo everyday for a year.  I would then possibly make a book from it, just for myself.

That is a great idea too Tommy!

and yes, the theme is just the day, in this case, March 1st, perhaps the winner of march 1st could pick an April date and so on.\
Obioulsy, we are are all on different time zones, so the day is just according to your local time.

I have set myself an additional challenge...On March first I will camping in a tent, with my wife and sprogs, and a few others at a pristine beach called Frazer park located in a national park up the coast a bit. I am going to take along my laptop and a 3G wireless card and a fully charged notebook battery, so I can upload a couple of shots from this area where there are no houses or Internet connections. (if i can get a connection)

You go for it Tommy i will be having a go myself ... I have already got a got something in the pipeline..and it has been there for 2 years... I hope that this year i will get at least one book done .

A good friend of mine has done it with fantastic results . he has used pictures taken over 3 years and made them the cover the page  (edge to edge ) and then inserted some smaller ones that look like they are on canvass..the whole thing was finished and printed by Photobox....

Tommy it would be great to do as over the year you would see your work and ideas develope..Go for it.

Talking of challenges and themes etc, I have thought about the MARCH theme, perhaps it could be something to do with "Science / Scientific" because it sort of runs with the preserve our planet comp and it might give people a start or some ideas for that theme at the same time ?
If people dont like it just let me know and I can try and think of something else ?

Time is like a freeway of infinite lanes, all leading from the past to the future. A driver in lane A may crash, while a driver in lane B survives, it follows that by changing lanes one may be able to predict the future.

The beautiful thing about an oligarchy young Tim, is that for the moment, you reign supreme.
If you call it, so it shall be  Smiley

Its all good. Your call.
