Market Lady

http://www.lightartforum.com/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=1230

A trip to the farmers market in Houston a couple of weeks ago yielded this photo of a Mexican lady selling her goods in an open air market.

I like it David a good portrait with some context to it.
I like the wide angle approach. I agree with Bob on the slight crop, only because the very top of the picture is unavaoidably over exposed due to the sunlight coming into the building.

Nice work and thanks for entering.

I like this shot too but also agree a tighter crop is required to put the lady the centre off attention

Yes, a bit too much distracting background.

Nice colours in this one ! Ditto on the closer crop, but you do have a good angle looking down on the overall scene !
I must ask tho, why did you use ISO 1600 and f7.1 ? You could have used f5.6 and ISO 800 or maybe less and then reduced your noise level.

Hey Dave,
I have just revisited this post and noticed that we have all provided some critique.
It is very important to remember that we are all participating on the basis of constructive contribution.

Your image is a very good shoot, but we all benefit form the creative feedback from other members.
We don't trash anyone's efforts but we and you can all put forward opinions, that often as the shooter we don't pick up. It helps everyone, as both shooter and critic to consider the elemets of the images posted and we all learn from it.
Cheers mate!

Hi Dave ,

I agree with Marks comments it makes US all think about how to improve on our work in the future, thats assuming we don't have kids round our ankles and the wife shouting ..We're going to miss the Bl**dy bus if you don't move it...

Hope you bought something of her stall in appreciation for the pose...John

Yesterday when I was out shooting some pics I thought about what Tim had asked about the speed I was using. 1600 is not a speed I would normally use and while out yesterday noticed it kept changing higher each shot.

Turns out it is a bad design or a design flaw.

The distance from the viewfinder to the button to change the ISO speed is the exact same distance as it is from my eye to the end of my nose. If I'm not careful my nose changes it. I'm not sure if the design flaw is the camera or my face but something isn't right. Once I noticed it and took care with it, it didn't happen again.

Thanks for the heads up Tim.

David, obviously you'll have to rearrange your face!  LOL!

Can you tilt your head a bit or something?

Have you considered having your nose moved a little more to the left of your face?  Shocked

David don't forget to play around with this image with the cropping idea so you get a feel for it and then repost it ....it would be nice to see how you do. Smiley  Smiley  Smiley
