Hi all, Dale here, just popping in to say hi and I'm still alive. I've been busy with one thing and another, not least of which, was getting married last September. The shorter days here have also been very restrictive as around Christmas time, it was getting dark by 3-30PM, so not much time to fit outside stuff in. I've been busy with my camera recently though, the days are getting a bit longer now, it's still light at 5 PM. I've got a competition to enter at camera club too, so please take a look at some of my possible entries in the landscape forum. Over and out, Dale.

Hey Dale, Welcome back! We were only just musing over past members a few days back. Great to see your alive, married and kicking I hate to rub it in but, I will... 28 degrees C headed for 31 and sunset just before 8pm tonight. We hope you can find the time to throw up an image or two.

Thanks Big Bob. I'm originally from South Wales, I moved to Scotland to be with my then girlfriend, Nicola, who is Scottish and originally from Falkirk.
Mark, it's good to be back but I'm dead jealous of your weather, we have gales and drizzle as I type but at least Spring is just around the corner.
I will certainly get some images up, I may not have loads as it's been a shocking Winter but I will show off some of my nicer ones.

Picsof frozen plants abd icicles, mayhaps? Winter can be interesting to photo but I di realise the severity of the one you have just had.
Welocnme to climate change! And the poor folk in Vic & SA are suffering a 43ºC+ week! I could not believe it whent he said Ceduna (which is on the ocean front!) reached 48ºC(!) on Wednesday. Victoria is also having to 'load shed' eklectricity due to dfemand, meaning some regions have 2-3 hour periods with no pawer. Just imagine 43ºC and you can't even turn on the fan!
We've been high 20-low 30s here but the humidity is stifling. 80% at 6am, rising to 100% during the day. But the last few mornings have been coolish and we are having rain every day. I feel guilty for having such pleasant wether when the other guys are sweltering and enduring bushfires.

Welcome back Dale and congrats on the marriage. I will swap you the weather if you want. I'm sick of summer already, the last week or more around my area have been around or over 40 degrees C, and I live in the high country. We have more to come to with the next week meant to be from around 38 to 42 or more, so your welcome to it. Send me the rain.

Be careful of what you wish for. Each wants what the other has.. and we all get a bit of both each year. Any deviation is a great photo opportunity.

Thankfully, the temperatures have dropped and there is some rain up our way. In Victoria, they still have some 'hotspots' and unfortunately, still a lot of areas to check out where they have had to prevent people returning.
Tonight's news suggests possibly 300+ lives lost and because of the intense nature of the fire, this may take months to confirm.

I will second guess that you have some sort of RSI damage to your trigger finger and you are having a bionic one fitted enabling several hundred frames per second following recovery, NICE.... On a serious note, best wishes for a speedy recovery and I look forward to seeing you back online.

Hi gang. Just thought I'd let you know, I have quite a big DIY project here at home this week, the good lady is away down South on business and I'm going to get our hallway done to keep me occupied and pass the time. The weather isn't great today, so landscape oppurtunities may be scarce this week anyway as I don't the the forecast for the rest of the week is good but we'll see, I may fit some photography of some sort in somewhere. The Spring bulbs are coming through in the garden, so I may get the macro lens out. So, if I'm not around for a few days, I'll be splattered in emulsion and all things painty and I'll see you all soon. Dale.

Hi gang. Still not able to type upto speed or for long periods but the surgery is done and I'm recovering well, although it will still be a week or 2 before I'm back upto speed. I watched the whole operation as I was awake throughout, fascinating. Here's a pic for you squeamish peeps.

At the moment, mainly rabbit, there's thousands of them here. I keep 1000 acres for 3 local farmers and if it's on the vermin list, causing problems and they want it shot, and it's in season, I shoot it. That could mean hare, any of the corvids except raven, pigoen, in extreme cases and rare cases, fox, game birds etc etc. There is no closed season on rabbit, so they are shot year round. It's not just about shooting though, it's about sustaining a healthy population by controlling numbers and not allowing overpopulation.
I use mainly a .22 calibre high powered air rifle, there are far less restrictions on air weapons here in the UK. Saying that, they are controlled quite tightly but nothing like the big calibre guns which perplexes me a bit as a high powered are rifle is just as capable as any full blooded firearm within it's range. Hand guns are banned here since the Dunblane masacre.
I use shotgun for bigger game. ie fox.
