Tim and his BIG lens

http://www.lightartforum.com/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=1177

When Tim,myself and Ross & Cher met up at D'ah today I got this nice shot of Tim and the lens - all 600mm of it!  It has it's owen special aluminium case that takes up more room than all the rest of the gear Tim had with him.

Not really an everyday walk around lens ! Should have seen the looks I was getting walking around rainbow bay to snapper rocks Smiley

Truthfully it is a lens which has very limited uses, and unless you can pick one up at a bargain basement price its really not worth spending the money on ! (Unless of course you are making your $$$ out of it)

I've suddenly got a bad case of lens envy...My 400MM F2.8 IS also has that monster Canon case but since I switched to a Wimberley foot, it no longer fits... Huh?...Hmmm, now Canon does make an 800MM version, hmmm... Wink...Ben

Ben, you have a bad case there of lens-itis.  You should do something for it, like go buy a new one! LOL.

While I love the look of a monster lens, what's up with the electrical tape?

I didn't realise they wre a 'log in only' group.  Sorry Ben.  It is the Brisbane Photographers group, it's not a great forum (in my humble opinion) but I have a gecko there once a week or so and that one naturally caught my eye..

The owner of the lens had a little mishap ... it got hit with a soccerball and the shoulder strap broke and the lens hit the ground bending the hood and the metal around the front element. The only way to keep the lens hood on now is to tape it on Smiley The glass is still in very good condition and its still a nice sharp lens !!

It makes that great big Canon look a bit small.
