Hello to all members where ever you are,

My name is John and i go by the name Blackbox and i'm here because of gumtree ( i think )..

I've been taking photos since i was 10yrs old , now thats 36 yrs to date, and i have the odd good pic in that time, I have a collection of over 300 cameras , and my negative collection runs into 100s of thousands, spanning time and the world, some of the best pix i've taken have been on the simplest of cameras..

My shooting buddies are a Canon 300 and 500 eos an AE1 and AV1 and a Zenith all film. while the Digital side is held up by 2 fujifilm cameras a F610 and a S1000fd which is just 2 months old, I had been saving for a 5D but its not the time to go spending that kind of Dosh on a camera,,,NOT only that i would have been Gutted if i had only to have Canon bring out the 5D mk11....So the 5D mk11 is on my wish list for next Xmas...Hope everone had a great 2008... John  Grin   Grin  Grin

ps. I'm in Sale cheshire next to Manchester/uk

Hi John,

Welcome to LightArt!!

I'm Tommy from Northern Ireland.  I have only just began my photography journey and I'm loving it!

I've only got the Sony Alpha A200 plus kit lense but it's a good entry level DSLR for me.  So much to learn when it comes to photography but it's exciting!

All I think about now is photography haha

(Hope my Fiancee doesn'y read that haha!! Cheesy)

Anyways,

Can't wait to see some of your shots!

Tommy

Welcome, love to see some photos of gems from your collection.

Admin, do we have a section for photos of cameras (collectibles etc)?  Maybe we should.

Hello John,

Welcome to Light Art, always nice to welcome a new member, let alone one with such a mamoth collection of cameras...and yes we do have a 'Collector's Corner' section of boards, way down in the list of too many! It is pretty quite down that way, so please fell free to make some post there for discussion.
If you get the time, perhaps you could feature an image and a few words on some the stuff from time to time, we'd love to give it some "exposure".

They are all afriendly lot here, so welcome again and dive in!

Welcome John, nice to see someone who lives near me, I'm in Chester, not too far away. Your collection of 300+ cameras certainly puts my 7 to shame! Smiley

Thanks for the Great welcome ...Boy am i looking forward to this year ....Hey Tommy you got the bug there then .. thinking about the photos all the time , i'm like yer self and i'm originally from a wee town called Raphoe in Donegal....

Hey there truckman if i had'nt hit hard times many years ago the collection would be twice what it is....just a point that i find a little funny is that the collection has about 10 digi cameras in it , the recent addition is a 6.3 megapixel vivatar only 2004 in imac condition in the box and fully working...and heres the but ...it can only take a 512 card....on the other end of the collection its a 1893 Eastmanbox camera....there is many i have not been able to buy...but patiently waiting for me is a box of around 50 cameras most of them are in there boxes, they are there for me when i have the £££££

Mike i get down to Chester during the summer if we have a good one this year maybe you'd like to meet up you could show me some of the shooting hot spots,

I will post some works and collectable photos asap...at the moment i'm juggling with sorting my day job and shoots with models

Bigbob I worked on a some bridges in the 80's in Devon hope they are still standing...stayed in Tiverton at the 7 stars pub. that was a story for the books

A lot of the earlier cameras can't take full advantage of the high capacity  cards...For instance my Canon 40D and 5D can record up to the limit on my 8GB CF cards...The same cards in my older Rebel XT cut it off at 2GB...Ben

As I understand it, the size of the buffer is the determining factor, in which case there is no software solution...Ben
