Now Tommy, lots of views on this image and no comments, so I'll make one.
the thing that stands out for me in this closeup is the tones. (It is a very good rich B&W other than a little posturisation in the background).
I think what is lacking, is simply something to juxtapose the clenched fist.
If your picture had, say a dandelion flower, or a rose (thorns in place) cluched in that fist with the same light and tone, I think it would totally transform the shot.

I get what you're saying.  A flower or something like that, to contrast between Hard and Soft.

Would be a good Idea!

I agree with Mark's advice, though I did like this shot immediately when I saw it; the simplicity of this shot in that the work-grime (is that grease?) makes the hand sink into the surrounding background, softening the shape of the hand with all the black in the wrinkles of the skin.

I think it has something. Kind of reminds me of the industrial age photos. The dark background throws me off a little, but not really sure what blurred background would work. I like the concept. There is some potential here
