I like it - good effect for a portrait.  Well done. I'd crop it to portrait shape though.

Both are good effects Tommy! That's the fun thing about digital - you can play as much as you like and not have to worry how many you bin before you get it right!!!! Grin

I agree with Ross, it's great fun playing around with digital images. It's the only way to learn for me.

Any creative effort is good. This is a really good piece of work, in that it has a style of it's own - a bit lke the old Pop art genre.
I like it.

Yeah that was the look I was trying to acheive...a sort of pop arty/ album cover look.

Still trying to find my own style of photography.

Got a phonecall from a prospective client looking me to do a head shot or body shot for his client... an independant singer looking an album cover photo!!

Now it hasn't been confirmed as yet but I've never done paid work before and I'm kind of nervous!!

Any tips??  From wat I know, his client his looking a shot on a white background while wearing white clothes.  I'm wondering will this work??  would I need to blow out the whites??

Any wee tips or info would be cool.

cheers guys!!

Try spot metering for the skin tones.
If you are using matrix metering you will probaly need to open up a stop or two on the metered reading, otherwise the camera will try to see the whites as 18% grey and they will look muddy.

You can also meter off a mid 18% grey card (you can buy these) or...much easier try a full double page spread from a broadsheet newspaper. The mix of newsprint and paper is near enough to 18% grey... That will be $10 thank you!
Back to your shoot..you might also want to try a couple with a rear rim light to highlight the outline of the hair and edges of clothing.
