Maybe we should a competition ?

Get something going ? It can be like based on community or something to create awareness ? Just an idea but maybe could a fun thing for everyone to get involved in . Maybe admin could judge and see if any local stores or Kodak or anyone would sponsor it in exchange for free advertising hmmmm . hmmmmm........................ could be fun , right ?

Welcome to the site, char.  We have our monthly challenge, maybe one day there will be prizes but it is very interesting to see how everyone interprets the topics.

Hi Char,

Always up for new contest ideas. As Odille mentioned, we have the monthly theme challenge, and members are also welcome to set there own challenges.
I have been thinking about the idea of a documentary challenge, where members pick a local topic of their choice, then document to build a short story over a month.
It might be a local character, a market district, an historic part of town, a local event or sports carnival, ecology issues, an elderly care centre - a journey - whatever.
We have a documentary section in place. I also have a little something as a prize, which I will ship to the winning member
I was recently given a 2nd unopened copy of the beautifully produced 31st edition of the Canon AIPP (Australian Institute of Professional Photgraphers) Gallery book. This high quality publication takes around 12 months to produce and is a low run, hardbound showcase of the award winning images of the prior year (2007 awards), in all professional categories. Independent of where you live and shoot, any serious photographer can learn a lot from the featured images. Anyone up for it?
